This project originated from Sordo Madaleno’s architectural vision for LAVO Mexico City. From the outset, the intention for the restaurant’s reception was clear: “We want a functional sculpture as the center of the host stand.”

Lava stone was selected early on as the primary material, valued for both its cultural significance and presence in Mexico. The challenge was to balance the raw character of the stone with the refined glamour of LAVO, creating a bespoke piece that connects the restaurant’s identity with its new location.
